WHAT WE DO

Working with people from Canada, uniting our hearts into one goal, we share fraternal love. Our volunteers dedicate their time to spread the word and engage the Canadian community into the 3 projects we are currently focusing.

In Madagascar, Fraternity Without Borders Canada is committed to the EFOTAKE community, which is a village located 108 kilometers north of Ambovombe, through the Madagascar project. Our goal with this project is to provide food for approximately 170 children in this community.

In Malawi, we are engaging with the Ubuntu Choir, which is part of the project Ubuntu Nation, located next to the Dzaleka Refugee Camp. Fraternity Without Borders Canada is working with the project conductress, Raissa, a refugee from Congo, to enhance the Ubuntu Choir. The Ubuntu Choir was created with the intention to musically stimulate the refugees with singing and playing an instrument, increasing their wellbeing, sense of purpose and strengthening their mental health.

In Brazil, children diagnosed with a rare disease called Epidermolysis Bullosa receive special treatment and care from the "Jardim das Borboletas" project located in Caculé, Bahia. This disease, which strikes the skin,  is severe, non-contagious and incurable, where even a light friction on the skin can leave wounds equivalent to a third-degree burn. The Fraternity Without Borders-Canada (FWB-CA) participates by providing a much-needed special silicone dressing to treat their wounds and consequently help to relief their pain through the Garden of Butterflies project.

HISTORY

Brazil - the origins

Fraternity Without Borders was originally founded in Brazil back in 2009 by Wagner Moura. He was still a child when he found himself crying over the hunger in the world. That pain accompanied him through his youth and awakened in him the desire of helping those in need.

As an adult, he began volunteering in unprivileged areas in his city. However, that was not enough for him, Wagner wanted to do more for humanity, so he decided to go to Africa. From those early days until today, as series of fortunate events have been leaving the marks of fraternity and love in Africa and Brazil, helping the Fraternity Without Borders build a better world.

Canada

Fraternity Without Borders was introduced to a group of people in Canada in 2017 by the international relations director, Andrei Moreira, who was visiting the country at that time.

In November of 2019, Fraternity Without Borders - Canada was officially created by a group of volunteers and then started its activities in Canada. Registered as a non-profit organization within the Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, FWB Canada is in the process to become a registered charity organization.

Fraternity Without Borders Canada supports 3 projects: Madagascar Action, Ubuntu Nation and Garden of Butterflies.
